Aly Kassam−Remtulla is assistant provost at Princeton University. As a member of the provost's senior staff, he works to deploy financial resources to advance the academic mission, establish and achieve diversity and inclusion goals and lead other strategic initiatives and priorities. Aly has also held appointments in the offices of the executive vice president, vice president for campus life and dean of the Graduate School. Beyond his administrative responsibilities, Aly is faculty advisor for freshmen and sophomore students and teaches an undergraduate seminar on Muslims in the United States.
For the 2017−2018 academic year, Aly will be serving concurrently as the acting associate dean at the Graduate School. He will lead a five person team focused on increasing graduate student diversity and inclusion in Princeton's 42 degree−granting departments and programs.
Prior to coming to Princeton, Aly was a program officer at the MacArthur Foundation. Earlier in his career, he worked for an investment bank, on two political campaigns and as a consultant to non−profit organizations and a start−up company. Aly serves on the boards of the national American Civil Liberties Union, the Stanford Alumni Association and the Mpala Research Centre.
Aly was born in Kenya, raised in Canada, and attended the United World College-USA and Stanford University where he graduated with honors and with distinction. He received an MSc, MBA, and PhD from Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
