
Marion Gill
As associate director of special projects, Marion Gill serves as the Provost’s Office delegate on major initiatives at the University, providing project management, coordination, and planning support. Marion’s primary role, is to provide expertise and project support to multi-year major initiatives, with specific concentration on programmatic coordination. One of her first assignments is the Art Museum’s expansion and rebuilding. Marion was previously the director of museum planning and operations for the International African American Museum (IAAM), in Charleston, South Carolina. In that position, she was responsible for construction coordination, facilities, security, IT, exhibitions, and retail operations (café and store). Prior to joining the IAAM, Marion spent more than 20 years at the Smithsonian Institution and played key roles in the planning and opening of two museums: the National Museum of the American Indian in 2004, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2016. Marion holds a BA in political science and a minor in art history from Fisk University.
