Bio/Description

Matthew Tomaszewski joined the Office of the Provost in October 2024 in the role of vice provost for space programming and planning. He comes to Princeton from Smith College, where he served as the associate vice president for campus planning and sustainability. There he led a team of professionals responsible for strategic campus planning, capital project delivery and sustainability. He served on numerous campus committees including the President’s Building Committee, the Campus Planning Committee, the Committee on Sustainability, and the Classroom/Learning Spaces Committee.

Prior to Smith College, Matthew served the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2002–2021, most recently as the executive associate provost for capital planning, where he led strategic capital and campus master planning efforts, representing the academic units throughout the planning and capital delivery process. While there he served on numerous committees, including the Chancellor’s Capital Review Committee, the Council of Deans, the Capital Planning Committee, the Facilities and Services Advisory Committee, the Research Safety Committee, the Sustainability Council, and the Instructional Space Advisory Committee, among others.

Matthew also has private consulting experience focusing on the areas of higher education and education strategy. Matthew holds a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University, an M. Ed. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
